Gayle Manning is a lifelong resident of Northeast Ohio. She earned a bachelor's degree in education from Kent State University and a master's degree in reading from the University of Akron, then spent 37 years as an elementary school teacher before transitioning to public service. She served on the North Ridgeville City Council before two terms in the Ohio Senate and four terms in the Ohio House, where she now serves as Speaker Pro Tempore. She was married to her late husband, former State Representative Jeff Manning, and has two adult children, Nathan and Allison, and three grandchildren.
