Jim Thomas grew up in Canton, Ohio, and earned a bachelor's degree from Stanford University, where he played on two NCAA championship tennis teams, and a law degree from Case Western Reserve University. He spent twelve years as a professional tennis player, then entered the private sector as President of JT Linwood Company for twelve years. Thomas served as a member of the Board of Trustees for Jackson Township from 2020 to 2022 before getting elected to the state legislature. He is now serving his second term in the Ohio House. He lives in Canton with his wife, Debra, and their children, Lauren and Jac.
