Background and Bio
Steve Demetriou grew up in Northeast Ohio. After high school, he attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he graduated with a degree in economics before commissioning as an Army infantry officer. After leaving the military, he founded a small business before helping run several family businesses. He was first elected to the state legislature as a State Representative in 2022 and is currently serving his second term. He lives in Geauga County with his wife, Carly, a former teacher, and their three sons, Steven, Teddy, and James.
Policy Issue Summaries
  • Economy and Taxes: Demetriou’s campaign website lists lowering costs as a priority for him, and notes his previous support for reducing property taxes and income tax cuts. He has supported reforms to Ohio’s tax code that reduced taxable brackets to two: individuals earning between $26,050 and $100,000 receiving an income tax rate of 2.75% and individuals earning more than $100,000 receiving a flattened rate of 3.5%.
