Thomas McMasters was born in Grand Forks, North Dakota, and earned a bachelor's degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo and a graduate degree from The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina. He served as a combat engineer and drill sergeant in the US Army and was an officer in the U.S. Air Force before retiring, and later served as Mayor of Huber Heights from 2014 to 2018. McMasters lives in Huber Heights with his wife, Marylin, and their five children, Thomas, Angelica, LeZelle, Irvin, and Alizea.
